New Fantastic Four series by Slott and Pichelli debuts in August

Heidi MacDonald, writing for The Beat:

Appearing on Marvel twitter with Ryan Penagos a few minutes ago, they (Marvel Editor-in-Chief CB Cebulski and Penagos) confirmed that, at long last, the FF, Marvel’s first family, are coming back in a monthly Marvel series, to be written by Dan Slott and drawn by Sara Pichelli. The book, which hits in August, will feature Reed, Sue, Ben and Johnny – the FF that’s you’ve known and loved since the dawn of the Marvel Universe.

Personally, I’ve never been a huge fan of the Fantastic Four but I completely understand their importance to the greater Marvel Universe. That their disappearance from Marvel’s comic books was seemingly fueled by some spat with Fox is a disservice to the fans who had followed and supported the books for years and it’s encouraging to finally see Marvel righting that wrong.

I hope this new series brings the characters back to their former glory and, with Slott’s history writing Silver Surfer and Pichelli’s amazing art, I’m hopeful it’ll do just that.
